Mumbai City FC rope in Costa

Indian Super League team Mumbai City FC have signed Brazil’s Leo Costa for the third season, the club announced on Tuesday.

Following strong performanc­es last season, Ashutosh Mehta and Albino Gomes have already secured their spots in the team.

The 30- year- old Costa is comfortabl­e playing multiple roles as an attacking midfielder, winger, as well as a striker with an eye for the goal.

Costa brings in great experience and quality with him to the Mumbai City FC camp having played at the highest level in Brazil and the Czech Republic.

Mehta is an I- League regular for the Mumbai based club and figured prominentl­y throughout the last few seasons.

At 25, Mehta has gained a lot of experience in a short span of time. Having played for the club last year as well, he is eager to help the club reach the playoffs this year.

The 22- year- old Albino Gomes is a promising young goalkeeper having represente­d India at the Under- 23, Under- 19 and Under- 16 levels. He is a gold medal winner with the Goa-India team at 2014 Lusofonia Games. Gomes has been part of Salgaocar FC in the I- League for four seasons in a row, and with an appearance under his belt for Mumbai City FC last year.
