‘ HAD TO BEG RANI TO TAKE UP KUCH KUCH...’

That Karan Johar had a really tough time bringing actors on board for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ( 1998) is quite well known to everyone. And it wasn’t until eight actresses had rejected him that Karan finally found his Tina Malhotra in Rani Mukerji.

Recalling the struggle, Karan, who was speaking at an event in Mumbai, said, “I had a lot of trouble casting for Tina’s ( Rani Mukerji) part in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. and no one agreed ( for the role). I had Earlier, on a dance given a romantic narration reality show, Karan had but no one revealed how he was responded. I felt like a all out of options beggar.” He even joked after Saif Ali Khan, that he had thought of who was originally wearing a short skirt supposed to play and doing Rani’s role Aman Mehra, himself in the film if walked out. Rani wasn’t the only director one that Karan had to approached ‘ beg’. Apparently, the Salman, who ace- director also had signed the film trouble convincing without even actors to take up Aman reading the Mehra’s role( played by complete Salman Khan). “Even script, just for for Salman’s part in the the sake of movie, I had to search a Karan’s father, lot. Finally it all happened,” he added.
