Irani dropped from CCPA

Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, beginning from Monday, the Cabinet committee on parliament­ary affairs ( CCPA) has been rejigged, with Union minister Smriti Irani getting dropped. The rejig in the CCPA became incumbent following the the change of portfolios of ministers after the Cabinet reshuffle.

While Ms Irani was shifted out of the high- profile ministry of human resources developmen­t to textile, her successor Prakash Javdekar was inducted into the CCPA as a full- time member. He was a special invittee earlier.

Former Union minister Najma Heptullah has also ceased being a member of the CCPA after her exit from the Cabinet.

Following the change in portfolios of the ministers, Ravi Shankar Prasad, as the law minister, has replaced his predecesso­r D. V. Sadananda Gowda.

Following the change in the minister of state for the parliament­ary affairs, Rajiv Pratap Rudy has been replaced in the CCPA by S. S. Ahluwalia. Mr Rudy was the minister of state for parliament­ary affairs earlier and was replaced by Mr Ahluwalia.

Newly- inducted minister of state in the law ministry, P. P. Chaudhary, has also been made a special invitee. The CCPA is headed by home minister Rajnath Singh. It recommends the dates of Parliament sessions. It has 11 members, including three special invitees.
