3 arrested for killing woman in Neb Sarai

Gurgaon: A garment businessma­n was shot dead by three unidentifi­ed motorcycle- borne assailants in Sadar Bazar area in old Gurgaon, the police said. Sanjeev Jindal, 38, was on his way home after locking his shop on Friday night when the three armed men waylaid him and opened fire. The men fled the spot after three to four bullets hit Jindal.

Gurgaon, July 16: A garment businessma­n was shot dead by three unidentifi­ed motorcycle- borne assailants in Sadar Bazar area in old Gurgaon, the police said. Sanjeev Jindal, 38, was on his way home after locking his shop on Friday night when the three armed men waylaid him and opened fire.

The men fled the spot after three to four bullets hit Jindal, who was shot at point- blank range.

The victim is said to have died on the spot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The entire incident of firing has been recorded in a CCTV camera installed at adjoining shops in the area, according to Sumit Kumar, DCP ( West) Gurgaon.

“We are examining the CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the accused persons. Preliminar­y investigat­ions suggest that it is a matter of personal enmity. The accused may have been hired by someone else as a matter of contract killing. We are investigat­ing the case with all possible angles,” Mr Kumar said.

A murder case has been lodged against the three unidentifi­ed persons in Gurgaon city police station under relevant provisions of the IPC.

Several businessme­n and shop owners protested against the Gurgaon police demanding speedy arrest of the accused. The market remained closed for a day to show solidarity with the deceased man’s family.

— PTI The Delhi police on Thursday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a 24- year- old woman at her rented accommodat­ion in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai area last week.

According to senior police officials of the south district, the accused have been identified as Monty ( 19), Ravi ( 19) and Athar Rehman ( 26). The deceased, Aarti alias Simran, who used to share her flat with another woman in Duggal colony, was found murdered on July 9.

The police said that after Aarti separated from her husband Sunny, she started living in Neb Sarai, where she befriended Monty. After staying with Monty for a month, she started seeing another man. Enraged over this, Monty hatched a plan to kill her.

On the intervenin­g night of July 8 and 9, the trio went to Aarti’s residence. A heated exchange ensued between Aarti and Monty. In a fit of rage Ravi grabbed the woman while Monty allegedly stabbed her on the neck, said the officer.
