1,500 kg spurious ghee seized, 1 held

Visakhapatnam: About 1,500 kg of adulterated ghee was on Saturday seized by officials of the Greater Visakhpatnam Municipal Corporation and police task force here and one person was arrested in this connection. The sleuths conducted a raid at a house in Muralanagar area here and one T. Sanyasi Rao, the man running the unit, was caught. Acting on a tip- off, the team led by food safety inspector G. V. Appa Rao and the police task force, took the action. “The accused used to prepare spurious ghee by adding large amounts of vanaspati and palm oil into pure ghee,” the inspector said.
