When it comes to matters of the heart, the lover boy is an emotional soul

Ranveer Singh is excited about his upcoming film

Befikre, which has almost 22 smooches and yet passed with U/A certification. “It’s a family film that can be watched comfortably with kids. Actually, these smooches have the warmth of a hug. You will get a happywalli feeling. That’s why it passed through the censors too.”

Speaking of young love, Ranveer says, “There are many layers to the romantic relationship in the film. The youth are very sure about what they want. While interacting with the young and fresh directors (assistants) on the sets, I understood their approach to romance. They have a very liberal attitude. I’m not 18 years old and I come from a traditional background. I did not have access to the internet and the social media then. That’s why my take on romance is traditional. My formative years of upbringing however, do not belong to this DNA!” In comparison to Bajirao

Mastani, this film is very lighthearted. “Working on Bajirao

Mastani was a totally draining and exhausting experience. For me, every film is a challenge and the character I do, reflects its own experience which translates my feelings of the moment. For Befikre, Adi told us to be happy, and feel fresh when coming on the sets. Having a beautiful co-actor doubles my energies,” he adds. In reaction to SRK’s ‘padded undergarment’ remark on Koffee with

Karan, Ranveer said, “I feel very comfortable in my body. My physical nudity does not mean anything to me. As an actor, I am just allowing you into a more intimate part from my body and into my soul.” Now that he is working with Aditya Chopra, does he think he has got into Shah Rukh Khan's territory? “I am not a territorial person. I take things as they come. I am more than happy and honoured to have worked with Adi and Sanjay at this initial stage of my career,” says Ranveer who is also open to working with younger directors with fresh ideas.
