Minor sexually assaulted, murdered

- AGE CORRESPONDENT NEW DELHI, NOV. 21

A four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and allegedly murdered by some unidentified persons in northwest Delhi’s Keshavpuram on Monday. The victim had been missing since Sunday and was found on Monday morning near the railway tracks. She had allegedly gone missing while she was playing near her house with a bunch of other children on Sunday. It was only when a group of women went to defecate near the railway tracks at Lawrence Road on Monday morning that they found the minor girl lying unconscious.

“It appears that one of the main motives behind the gruesome act is that one of the accused had a tiff with the chi-ld’s father in the recent past. To take revenge, the accused committed the heinous crime,” said a senior police official. “We have identified one of the accused and are in the process of identifying other suspects,” said the official.

“She was playing with her siblings and few other children in the gali outside her house. At around 8.30 pm, her mother went out looking for her. Unable to find her, she informed us and we started searching for the girl anxiously. We even called on 100 but no one came. Eventually, we had to go to the nearest police station and lodge a complaint. On Monday morning, around 7 am, one of the women and children who had gone near the railway tracks to relieve themselves, found our child. She was lying unconscious at the backside of an old damaged building,” the minor girl’s uncle said.

The police said that it was waiting for the final post mortem reports to ascertain if she was sexually assaulted.
