Woman mauled by pet Rottweiler

A 29-year-old woman got critically injured after she was mauled by a Rottweiler while she was returning home after dropping her seven-year-old child to a school in R.K. Puram in South Delhi on Thursday noon.

The woman, who sustained critical injuries, has been identified as Meenakshi, a resident of Munerika and woks as a sales woman. Meenakshi was heading home when suddenly the Rottweiler dog, owned by a family, charged an attack on the woman. Despite loud cries of help, no one could muster the courage to intervene or rescue her.

The incident took place on Thursday noon in R.K. Puram Sector 4. According to the police, the owner of the ferocious dog is identified as Sanjeev Joshi. She was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where the hospital alerted the police and a medico legal case was registered with the police under Sections 289 of the IPC.

The police said that according to the complainan­t, as Meenakshi was passing by the house of Sanjeev Joshi, the Rottweiler suddenly attacked her and bit her on the hand, thighs and lower part of the body, leaving her critically injured. Hearing calls for help, locals rushed for her rescue but failed to muster courage to pull the canine away.

The owner was informed who then rushed to the spot and took away the dog. He then applied first-aid to the woman. Meanwhile, a call was made to a PCR van who shifted the injured woman to Safdarjung Hospital where she underwent treatment.
