The State Bank of India has ordered an investigation after a customer complained that its ATM had in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar had dispensed four fake notes of `2,000 denomination.

Except for their colour and size, the notes have very little similarities to the real `2,000 note.

Instead of RBI, “Children Bank of India” is written on them in English, and in Hindi it says “Bharatiya Manoranjan Bank”.

In place of the official mark, a little box said “Churan Lable (label)”, and the note promised 2,000 “coupens” instead of rupees to the “barer”. The notes also had “PK” written on them in place of the RBI stamp. “This is mischief played by someone. We are trying to ascertain whether the person deputed by the agency, hired by the bank, was involved,” a senior SBI official.

Police said that the notes are children’s play notes, easily available at toys shop. One Mohd. Isha, custodian of Brinks India Pvt. Ltd., who works for the SBI ATM, is being probed.

The Delhi police has booked three women of the same family for creating a ruckus at a mobile showroom in Rajouri Garden area on Monday.

The entire scuffle was captured on CCTV and also recorded by a shop employee on his phone. One of the salesmen at the showroom was hit in the ear and sustained stitches.

The incident took place on February 20 around 4 pm after a woman, identified as Rajlakshmi, entered the showroom along with her mother and daughter and asked the authorities to give her a new phone as she was facing problems with the recently purchased Samsung phone from the same shop. The clip shows the women throwing things and even trying to hit the employees. Rajlakshmi’s daughter, clad in a white Tshirt, can be seen entering the showroom and trying to kick and punch others.

“The phone was purchased around five months back and she had purchased the insurance as well. The service centre of the insurance company is in Janakpuri and we tried to tell them to go to the insurance company as we do not repair phones at this showroom but they did not listen. They broke our counters, pulled our turban and abused us,” said Ricky Kohli, owner of the showroom.

The women have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
