Rowling asked to ‘spin the magic wand’ for refugees in her mansion

50,506 petitioners ask author to take in Muslim immigrants

London: It could be time for J.K. Rowling to put her words into action if an online petition calling for the richest author to accommodate Muslim refuges in her Edinburgh mega mansion is anything to go by.

The petition, which has attracted 50,506 signatures, demands that the pro-refugee Harry Potter series writer to take in refugees in her 18 spare bedrooms.

Recently, Rowling slammed US President Donald Trump for issuing the executive order banning entry of refugees and citizens from seven predominantly Muslim nations. She even called J.K. Rowling has often announced her solidarity with Middle Eastern refugees on Twitter

According to reports, one petitioner calling himself Marcus Aurelius set up a change.org petition for “J.K. Rowling to take in Muslim refugees in her 18 spare bedrooms”.

The petition declared, “J.K. Rowling has often announced her solidarity with Middle Eastern refugees on Twitter. She is a well-known advocate of open borders and often stated that Europe has the duty to give every single one of these refugees from all over the middle eastrarely war zones-asylum and welfare.”

The petitioners demanded that Rowling “grants no less than 18 refugees shelter in her mansions for, at least, 8 years”. “She rejects safe immigration, which is why we also demand, that there will be no additional vetting process for these refugees. To make this group of refugees representative of the situation in Europe, we also demand that the group consists of 14 men and 4 women since over 75 per cent of the millions of refugees are male.”

Rowling has not responded to the petition so far. It added, “Everyone who represented a different opinion (on refugees) was viciously attacked by her, and she is not alone. Many other multi-millionaires and billionaires seem to be fond of refugees.”
