‘ISI agent’ lands in IGI, wants to stay

-

The security agencies at IGI airport were on their toes after a passenger claimed that he wanted to quit Pakistan intelligent agency ISI. The passenger got off an Air India flight (AI-213) from Dubai at the IGI Airport on Friday. The passenger, identified as Muhammad Ahmad Sheikh Muhammad Rafiq, a Pakistani passport holder, approached a help desk at the airport and conveyed to a lady at the counter that he wanted to share information about Pakistan’s spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The apprehended man, who claimed to be an ISI agent from Pakistan, appeared to be depressed. Instead of heading towards transfer area, from where he had to catch a flight to Kathmandu, he approached the helpdesk. After seeing his suspicious activity, the helpdesk questioned him. Mr Rafiq told the airport staff that he has connections with the ISI but had decided to call it a day and remain in India. He said, “Hello, I am an ISI agent. But I don’t wish to continue any further and want to remain in India,” said an airport sources to this newspaper. “The lady immediately swung into action and informed security officials who detained him immediately and informed the concern security agencies. He was whisked away to an undisclosed destination, where he was being questioned by sleuths from various central agencies. His claims were being verified,” said the sources. “Mr Rafiq (38) had arrived at IGI airport on Friday morning by Air India’s flight from Dubai and was further booked for Kathmandu,” said sources.

Officials from the Delhi police said that they have no information and was unaware about any such development.
