-

A team of Delhi police has cracked a case in which a woman was gangraped and later murdered by three men in February near Kanjhawala police station limits. The woman’s friend was also murdered by the trio.

The three arrested are criminals and belong to Rajesh Bawania gang. They have been identified as Jasbir Dabas alias Jassu (31), Devender Kumar alias Bablu (30), and Manjeet alias Harvinder (35).

The police said that the three said that on February 18, they, along with their two other associates were consuming liquor in the fields of Madanpur Dabas village, when they noticed a motorcycle arriving at a distance. Planning a robbery, when the four inebriated men approached the motorcycle, they found the deceased woman, Pooja (name changed), with his friend Arun alias Kancha sitting in the field. The offenders changed their mind and after over powering the duo, gangraped Pooja. Later, out of the fear of being identified, they planned to kill them and used Arun’s leather belt to strangulate the duo.

Afraid of being caught, the gang disposed of the bodies separately, to conceal evidences and informned one of the accused, identified as Manjeet, about the incident who then buried them and assisted in hiding themselves and the evidences. The police, with the arrest of the two, recovered the deceased’s mobile phone and belt. The brutal murders had come to light on Febriary 19 when a PCR call was made and it was reported that a dead body of a woman was lying near a pond at Meer Vihar, Madanpur Dabas. On reaching the spot, the dead body of a woman aged about 37-38 years, with a ligature mark on the neck, was found. It later came to light that she was missing since February 18.
