Stephen’s student offered pay package of `40lakh per year

The Delhi University placement season for the academic year 2016-2017 kick-started with some of the best placements, leaving students excited by the offers in companies’ kitties. While North Campus’ St. Stephen’s has received the highest package of `40 lakh, Lady Sri Ram College of South Campus bagged the second position with `34 lakh package.

The two colleges have witnessed a sharp rise in their annual packages in comparison to last year’s offer of `29 lakh each.

According to a source, three students from Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) bagged a package of `29 lakh in the November placement drive by strategy consultanc­y company Parthenon-EY. The highest package for SRCC was `17 lakh in 2015. The average cost-to-company (CTC) offered during campus placements at Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) for the batch of 2017 hit a four-year high of `20.6 lakh per annum.

The average CTC offered to FMS Delhi graduates increased for the third consecutiv­e year. For the batch of 2016, the average CTC offered was `20.5 lakh per annum, up from `17 lakh per annum in 2015, and `16.2 lakh in 2014.

Accenture Strategy and EY Consulting emerged top recruiters at FMS Delhi with 10 offers each at the final campus placements this year in January. Capgemini Global Consulting made nine offers while Amazon India hired eight graduates this year.

Apart from the individual placement cell of the varsity colleges, the varsity Central Placement Cell (CPC) provides placement assistance, counsellin­g for employment and self/social entreprene­urship. Any student of the university can register himself with the CPC and can sit for the drive.

”In the recent past, recruiters and companies have started looking for students from DU. Every company that has visited the college so far, has been impressed by the calibre of the students. The CPC acts as an interface between the industry and the students, and primarily enable the students to select from their career options,” an official said.
