37L looted ` from Flipkart’s dispatch centre

A group of masked men, armed with pistols, looted `37 lakh cash from a Flipkart dispatch centre in the Jhilmil Industrial Area of Delhi on Sunday.

The police said that they received a PCR call about a robbery at around 9pm, on Sunday, from Flipkart’s dispatch centre located in the Jhilmil Industrial Area.

A police team reached the spot where Ramu Kushwaha, who was working as cashier in the Flipkart office, said that three to four unknown youth barged in the office and committed the robbery. As it was Sunday and the banks were closed, the collected cash was to be kept in the office to be deposited in the bank on Monday morning.

The staff members said that there were six employees in the office at 8.45pm. Before closing the office they were moving the collected cash of the day to the office’s main locker when 3-4 youths entered the office. They were wearing masks and helmets and were armed with pistol. They entered

Before leaving the office they also took away the hard disk (storage device) of the CCTV cameras to avoid identifica­tion, said a senior police official.

A police team, along with the forensics, was sent to the spot. “CCTV footages from the vicinity are being scanned to identify the robbers and trace the vehicles used in the crime. We have asked the owner to provide us details of the looted money. We are probing the matter,” said Nupur Prasad, DCP (Shahdara).

Police also said that employees at the office will be questioned and a list of the previous employees has also been made.
