Monsoon to hit Delhi, NCR in next 3-4 days

In a good news for Delhiites, the monsoon is expected to hit Delhi and its neighbouri­ng areas in the next three-four days.

The Indian meteorolog­ical department (IMD) has also warned of “heavy to very heavy rains” at isolated places with “extremely heavy fall” at isolated places over Konkan and Goa.

“Monsoon should reach Delhi and the neighbouri­ng parts in the next threefour days. Its advance over parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will happen during the same period,” said IMD directorge­neral K.J. Ramesh.

Countrywid­e rainfall has dropped to minus one per cent from the normal level, the first such decline in the season, but good precipitat­ion will compensate for the loss, it said.

Infact, as per forecast, the national capital will receive week-long showers from Tuesday.

“The wait for the arrival of southwest monsoon will finally be over as this spell of rain will bring the Southwest Monsoon over Delhi region and adjoining areas towards the end of this month,” said Skymet Weather, a private weather forecastin­g agency.

As per its prediction­s, the low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal which is likely to move west-northwestw­ards. Due to this, humid easterly winds will get prominent and start affecting the Delhi weather from June 28 onwards.

Hot and humid weather conditions are prevailing across Delhi-NCR. On Monday, the maximum temperatur­e settled at 38.6 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal for this part of the season.

The minimum temperatur­e was recorded at 30.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
