- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Three teams from Delhi will take part in the fourth edition of country’s biggest off-road motorsport event, the Force Gurkha RFC India, in Goa from July 22 to 30.

Bijender Singh (co-driver Gajender Singh) are RFC India veterans and have been competing since the event was launched in 2014. Dr Kartik Sharma (codriver Rajiv Yadav) form the second team from the capital while debutants Pragun Arora (co-driver Gursahib Singh) will be the third.

The event will host 40 teams, who will compete over 26 special stages or challenges that will test driving and vehicle recovery skills, team spirit along with their physical and mental endurance under extreme offroad conditions.

The event follows a points system, wherein the team with maximum points at the end of the competition will claim the title. The winner will get a purse of $8,000 including a free entry to the RFC Mother Event, to be held in Malaysia at the end of the year.

“I started off-roading three years back with off-road excursions as part of a local club. My passion for cruising and developing cars has brought me to this point,” Arora said.

About his participation in the event, he added, “I wanted to participate last year too but my vehicle was not up to the mark. This year I’ve modified my Maruti Gypsy in compliance with the RFC India specifications. I’m also working on my physical and mental fitness.”

Singh, who will represent Northern India Offroad Club, said, “I have participated in all the editions of RFC India. It has been a wonderful journey and I managed to grab first position in my category last year. I am excited about the upcoming competition and am working out regularly to improve my stamina and fitness. My co-driver Gajender is also undergoing rigorous training with bridges and winches.”
