The Delhi police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including two women, for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing a maid.

With the arrest of the three accused — Balram and two women, who are all aged 18, the police claimed to have solved four cases.

On June 25, 48-year-old Jitender Mahajan, who is in the business of selling auto parts, approached the police with a complaint alleging that he had been robbed of `26,000.

He was in need of a maid and contacted Just Dial, Sulekha, etc.

He received a call from a person named Kapil on June 14 who introduced himself from a maid placement agency named Sudhir Enterprises, said deputy commissioner of police (West) Vijay Kumar.

Later that evening, Kapil and Shubanand came to meet him on the pretext of fixing the wages of the maid. The very next day, they sent two women along with a man named Balram. Leaving one of the women to work as a maid at Mahajan’s residence, Balram and the other women left from the complainant’s home stealing `26,000

The woman who was left behind also left soon after leaving behind her bag. Mahajan tried to call the representatives of the maid placement agency but they did not respond to his calls, said the deputy commissioner of police. Mahajan found that the placement verified the address of Sudhir Enterprises was found fake. He then approached police and a case was registered at Punjabi Bagh police station.

On the basis of technical analysis, it was found that the gang was operating from Nawada and Mohan Garden. Balram and the two women were arrested on June 25 while few other gang members are absconding, he said.

The accused persons used to reside together in remote areas.
