After 70 yrs of courting, India fully accepts Israel
During his Israel visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has found his long-lost friend: Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Jewish state, who pulled out all stops to make Mr Modi’s visit unforgettable.
In his remarks, Mr Netanyahu said: “We have been waiting for the last 70 years” for a visit by an Indian PM.
The visit is significant as Indian leaders have been opposed to the creation of Jewish homeland since 1917 and opposed the Balfour Declaration that opened the door for a Jewish homeland — the first country to be created on the basis of religion — in Palestine.
Both the leaders elevated IndiaIsraeli ties to the “strategic partnership” level, which saw both the countries signing seven agreements. They agreed to protect strategic interests and fight radicalisation and terrorism.
You and I can change the world... Our relationship is made in heaven and we are doing the implementation part
— BENJAMIN NETANYAHU, Israel PM
