SECOND INNINGS FOR KUNAL

-

Kunal Kapoor is set to make a comeback. After his first successful stint, Rang De Basanti, he has had to wait for a while, before a few short films set the ball rolling again. “After the success of my first film, things went downhill. At one point, I had to figure out the kind of films I was keen o n doing. Fortunately, my writing hobby, which mushroomed during my adolescence, came to my rescue.”

His efforts even gained fruition, after one of this scripts may see the light of the day. He reveals, “I decided to write a few scripts of my personal liking. And guess what? A producer has backed one of my stories, about a father-son relationship. The story draws from my early childhood relationships. As of now, the script is incomplete, but hopefully the film will go on the floor next year”

Reminiscing about his childhood days, he says, “We were a small family of five, but also spent a lot of time with our extended family of about 25 uncles, aunts and cousins. We would spend both summers and winters, in Delhi and Amritsar, as mom and dad came from these two cities. Our house was open to relatives, almost the whole year round. As the youngest kid, I would be doted on, and often go to sleep securely in a corner”

The actor will next be seen as Col. Shahanawaz in Raagdesh, which is set to release, very fascinating. “For months, I had to learn the Urdu and Punjabi dialect. I feel the younger generation needs to know the origins of the Indian National Army and how Britishers faced defeat while planning to degrade three soldiers.”

About his future films, Kunal confirms, “I have just shot a little portion of my next film, Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, in London,. This is a film about India bagging the first Olympic gold medal for hockey. I am happy with the roles of my choice. I surely love this second innings in my acting career,” he concludes.
