AFC assesses roadmap for development
The Asian Football Confederation’s Futsal Development Programme concluded on Friday in New Delhi with an assessment to develop and create a roadmap for the game in the country.
An AFC team, represented by technical director of the futsal and beach soccer development department Ali Targholizadeh, project manager of Futsal development programme and Badrul Hisham Bin Kalam of Futsal referee’s department.
All India Football Federation general secretary Kushal Das along with I-League chief executive Sunando Dhar and AIFF technical director Savio Medeira the represented country’s governing body.
The four-day programme focused on assessment of India as a futsal nation, whilst driving plans and a roadmap to boost the popularity of the sport in the country create a platform for its advent.
“I am happy with AIFF’s initiative to develop Futsal for Football and Futsal for Futsal which is a part of developing football overall,” said Ali.
“This programme was a pilot project in assessing futsal in India and aiding to create a viable roadmap to help India set up a proficient futsal system. Asia has almost 2/3rd of the world’s population and India is a major and an important part of that and futsal is a game which is generally widely accepted by the masses,” he added.
