GoT 7 struck by fresh leak
HBO Spain accidentally airs episode 6 of Game of Thrones season 7
London: It is already one of the most leak-prone seasons of Game of Thrones and now HBO Spain seems to have accidentally broadcast episode 6 four days before its official release.
The episode was reportedly available on-demand to Spanish subscribers for one hour before being removed — long enough for the online community to share the video.
Apparently, the entire episode is available on torrent sites, reported the Independent.
This is not the first time that Game of Thrones, HBO’s most prized drama, has suffered a fate like this.
Earlier, an episode of season 6 was accidentally uploaded by HBO’s Nordic arm a few hours before official broadcast. While the episode 4 of the season 7 was leaked in India.
HBO Europe said in a statement it had “learned that the upcoming episode of Game of Thrones was accidentally posted for a brief time on the HBO Nordic and HBO Espana platforms.
“The error appears to have originated with a third-party vendor and the episode was removed as soon as it was recognised,” it added.
HBO also suffered a cyber attack recently with the hackers threatening to release important information related to the show but they are yet to follow through their threat.
Game of Thrones Season 7 has already made history, becoming one of the most illegally downloaded shows ever.
Leaks and illegal streams have flooded the web forcing its makers HBO to warn torrent users about the dangers of watching the show on unofficial channels.
Now the crackdown on streams is escalating with a number of people being arrested all over the world for leaking an episode of the show before it was aired.
Four people were accused of criminal breach of trust and computer-related offences.
Deputy commissioner of police Akbar Pathan, said, “We investigated the case and have arrested four individuals for unauthorised publication of the fourth episode from season seven,”
The case was filed by a Mumbai-based company who are responsible for processing and storing the TV episodes for an app, local media said.
Last year, The Door, from season six, was released 24 hours before it was due to be broadcast by HBO Nordic.
The leak comes just days after four people were taken into custody in India after being accused of leaking episode five of season seven.
The Spoils Of War became available online two days before schedule after a digital copy was stolen from Star India.
The trailer for the sixth instalment, which is due to air on Sunday in the US, shows Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) venture beyond The Wall once more. He will be accompanied by The Hound (Rory McCann) and Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer), who can be seen waving a flaming sword at the enemy in the oneminute teaser.
