You may be able to squeeze the next Pixel

Afiling now made with the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) has revealed that the next Google flagship smartphone will be built by HTC accompanying its squeezing gimmick from U11. The previous Google flagship smartphones — Pixel and Pixel XL — were built by the firm itself. While, LG is rumoured to manufacture Pixel XL’s successor, the maker of the smaller Pixel variant had remained unknown until the final filing appeared.

In the numerous documentation found on FCC, filed by HTC, it has been revealed that the phone will feature HTC U11-like squeeze functionality, but branded as “Active Edge” under a new “Languages, inputs

and gestures” setting. Furthermore, a new Setting app confirmed the phone running Android O with an August security patch.

In terms of design, the glass window of the device has been shortened. However, HTC’s is not slimming down Pixel 2 bezel. The device’s thick bottom bezel will be home to a dual front-facing speaker for richer audio playback. Unfortunately, all at the expense of the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pixel 2 is anticipated to feature a 4.95-inch full HD display, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 processor, and coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB/64GB of memory storage options. Google is expected to announce the new models in October, a month after two major players — Samsung and Apple — would have already announced their flagship smartphones.
