Man held for road rage incident in Uttam Nagar

The Delhi police on Tuesday arrested a 32year-old man, who was involved in a road rage incident in Uttam Nagar area earlier this month.

“The arrested accused has been identified as Pradeep alias Monu. A 0.32 bore pistol, one live cartridge and Maruti Swift car used in the crime have been recovered from the accused’s possession,” Bhishma Singh, deputy commission­er of police (crime) said.

“On August 25, sleuths of the Crime Branch received a tip off about accused Mr Pradeep, who was wanted in an attempt to murder case and that he would be coming near the of Dwarka Sector 10 metro station park. Accordingl­y, a team was formed and a trap was laid and the accused was apprehende­d,” the senior police officer said.

During the course of interrogat­ion, “the accused confessed that on the night of August 18, he along with his gang members Gullu, Vinod and Kaku were proceeding to his home in Bindapur from Vikaspuri via Hastal Road, Vidya Vihar in his Maruti Swift car when a scuffle allegedly broke out between him and the victim Pankaj Gautam who was riding a bullet motorcycle with his friend Dinesh,” Mr Singh said.

The police further said that the scuffle started as the accused was not giving space to the victim on the motorcycle.

In the heated argument that followed, Mr Pradeep fired at Mr Pankaj chasing him in Om Vihar, Phase-3, Uttam Nagar.
