15-YEAR-OLD RAPED BY DUO IN ODISHA, HELD

The Odisha police on Wednesday arrested two youths for raping a 15-yearold girl in Shantipali slum on Tuesday. The arrested duo was forwarded to the court that sent them to Jharpada jail, turning down their bail plea. The accused Rashmi Ranjan Das (19) and Sanatan Behera (21) of work as labourers in Shantipali. The accused entered the victim’s house her mother there. They tied her hands and legs before raping her in an inebriated state. Also, the duo threatened to murder her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Following this, her mother returned and found the door opened. She saw her daughter lying on the floor, tied with ropes. After learning about the incident, the woman along with the slum dwellers started searching for the accused but failed. A case was registered in the Mahila police station. The victim was sent to Capital Hospital for medical examinatio­n and treatment. The cops nabbed the duo while they were consuming toxic items sitting on the railway track in Bomikhal area on Monday night.
