It’s all FINE at Trevi

Rome has banned snacking by fountains and late night drinking at its piazzas(townsquares) with about 40 of its fountains under the scanner for the mess made by gelato eating tourists. Even throwing things into the water has been banned, money being the exception, for that illusive wish! The Piazza del Popolo, Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Barberini, as well as the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona are in this list with an aim to protect the historical, artistic and archeological capital. The ban lasts until October 31. And if you flout it you will be fined at 240.
