Hansraj Model School dominate TT tourney

Hansraj Model School, Punjabi Bagh, clinched the top spots in the six categories out of seven on the concluding day of the 3rd TTFI inter-state table tennis championship in the capital on Thursday.

HRMS ran away with top honours in the junior boys and girls singles as well as in the team events apart from the senior girls sections and the team events for senior boys and girls.

Manika Kesar of HRMS had to fight back from a game down to win 3-2 in the junior girl’s category. However, Tejas Narang brushed aside the challenge from Vishwa Bharati’s Samarth as he wrapped up the proceedings without a single loss in the junior boys’ section to win 3-0.

Around 4,000 boys and girls participated in the championship with the hope of securing a top spot to qualify for the finals later this year. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Delhi State Table Tennis Association.

Junior boys singles: Tejas Narang (HRMS) beat Samrath Singh (Vishwa Bharthi) 11-09, 11-07, 11-06. Senior girls singles: Vanshika Bharagava (HRMS) bt Tamana Gulshan 11-04, 11-09, 12-10. Senior boys singles: Yashansh Malik (HRMS) bt Jai Jain 08-11, 08-11, 11-04, 11-01, 11-04.
