APPLE iPHONE 8/8 PLUS:

-

Apple also released the spec-bumped version of the last year’s iPhone 7/7 Plus. Interestingly, it is not called the iPhone 7s/7s Plus but called the iPhone 8/8 Plus. The new models sports a all-glass body and supports wireless charging. The design is similar to the predecessor expect the glass panels which Apple claims to be the “most durable glass ever made in a smartphone.”

The 8/8 Plus sports a Retina HD display with True Tone and a wide colour gamut with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays. It also comes with the A11 Bionic chip running iOS 11, but without the neural engine which comes only on the iPhone X. The A11 Bionic is claimed to be 70 per cent faster than the A10 Fusion chip from the iPhone 7 generation. On the augmented reality front, Apple with its A11 Bionic gives way to power AR oriented reality apps and games. On the camera front, Apple has improved camera sensor and included a new motions sensor in the two phones in order to support augmented reality-based apps.

Additionally, the models also support wireless charging like the iPhone X. Both the 8 and the 8 Plus are splash, water, and dust resistant. The new Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will come in three colours: space grey, silver and gold, and will be available at a starting price of `64,000 and `73,000 respectively for the 64GB version. Interestingly, Apple will start taking pre-orders for the iPhone 8 line earlier than the iPhone X, reportedly from Sept 15. Globally, the two models are slated to be shipped from Sept. 22, but in India they will hit stores on September 29.
