‘GETTING A NOTE FROM AMITABH IS THE BIGGEST AWARD’

- UMA RAMASUBRAMANIAN

It’s a joyous moment for any actor to receive an appreciation note from a veteran, who is known for his prolific body of work. Rajkummar Rao is on cloud nine ever since he received a handwritten note from Amitabh Bachchan for his performance in his latest, Bareilly Ki Barfi.

The handwritten note read, “I saw your film Bareilly Ki Barfi... It is amazing! I have been an admirer of your work for a long time, but your performance in this film is really beautiful. My best wishes always. Love, Amitabh Bachchan. (sic)”

Rajkummar is elated, and hopes to collect a few more handwritten letters from the megastar. “When you get a hand written note from Amitabh, there is nothing bigger than that. It’s a huge award when you get a note from Amitabh. It’s very inspiring when he encourages new talent — there is so much to learn from him. This is the first hand written note I have received from him. I hope I keep doing good work and keep getting many more notes from him,” Rajkummar said.

The actor, who is busy promoting his next film Newton, is trying to be as grounded as possible. He says, “I feel happy when people like my work, but for me, the most important thing is not to take success too seriously. It’s a part and parcel of life I just want to be happy with whatever I am doing. I think I am quite satisfied. I am idealistic in certain way when it comes to work and acting.”

While he has some great line-up in the coming months, Rajkummar will also be seen romancing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Fanney Khan. He says, “I am really looking forward to start Fanney Khan. Each of us have a very diverse roles — be it Aishwarya, Anil sir or me. It’s a great team I am looking forward to be part of it.”
