Rahul asks NRIs to work with Cong
New Delhi, Sept. 21: Most people are “worried” about what has happened to India’s tradition of tolerance, Congress vicepresident Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday following his interactions with students in the US.
Mr Gandhi invited nonresident Indians (NRIs) to “work with the Congress”.
“I had many conversations during my trip. Most people were worried about what has happened to the tolerance that used to prevail in India,” Mr Gandhi said on Twitter on Thursday, without naming any party or leader.
In another post, he said,

“NRIs have tremendous knowledge and understanding in different fields. I invite you to work with the Congress and discuss the vision forward.”
Mr Gandhi said India will have to empower small and medium businesses if it has to produce “millions of jobs”.
The Congress vice-president had two public interactions in the US — at University of California, Berkeley and Princeton University — where he targeted the government on various issues.
Mr Gandhi is in the US on a two-week-long tour.
Meanwhile, the Congress has also hit back at the BJP over its allegation that Mr Gandhi brought ignominy to India on foreign soil, claiming it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who did so and asked him to “apologise” to the country.
Recalling Mr Gandhi’s comments during his ongoing US tour on unemployment and intolerance, Congress leader Anand Sharma said what he spoke was “apt”.
He said: “The BJP has created an atmosphere of violence, fear, terror. Rahulji spoke only on what the ground realities are... Modiji himself had tarnished India’s image abroad. The PM should apologise to the country,” Sharma said.
