Ajay Jha is next expenditure secy
New Delhi: Eleven Central secretaries were reshuffled Wednesday, including Ajay Narayan Jha, a Manipur cadre IAS officer, who will take over as the new expenditure secretary when incumbent Ashok Lavasa retires on October 31.
As many as 11 secretaries in key Central ministries were reshuffled late on Wednesday evening, key among them being Ajay Narayan Jha, a 1983-batch IAS officer of Manipur cadre being appointed as officer on special duty in expenditure department of finance ministry with immediate effect. He will assume charge as expenditure secretary on the superannuation of the current incumbent Ashok Lavasa.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet approved the new appointments, according to the order issued by the Department of Personnel.
Mr Jha is at present secretary in the environment ministry. He will be replaced by C.K. Mishra, a Bihar cadre IAS officer of 1983 batch, in the sensitive environment and forest ministry. Mr Mishra himself is at present health secretary.
Subsequently, Preeti Sudan, an Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS officer of 1983 batch, has been appointed as secretary health in the vacancy created by Mr Mishra’s appointment as secretary in the environment ministry.
Injeti Srinivas, an Odisha cadre IAS officer of 1983 batch, who is at present secretary in the department of sports and director general of Sports Authority of India, has been appointed as the new corporate affairs secretary.
