Minor’s rape: Pak TV anchor presents news with daughter
A Pakistani television anchor broadcast the regular news bulletin with her daughter in the lap to protest against the rape and murder of a sevenyearold girl in Kasur this week.
Kiran Naz, the news anchor of Samaa television channel, hosted the show on Wednesday with her baby girl saying: “Hello, I am Kiran Naz. But, today, I am not Kiran Naz. Today, I am a mother. This is why I am sitting here with my daughter.”
She added: “It is true, they say, the smallest coffins are the heaviest and entire Pakistan is burdened by the weight of her coffin.” Ms Naz’s gesture went viral on the social media.
Zainab’s uncle Muhammad Adnan reported that on January 4 she went missing at 7: 00 pm ( local time). According to police Zainab along with her cousin, Muhammad Usman went to recite Quran at their aunt’s house at Kot Road. Muhammad Usman returned home but Zainab went missing. Her aunt presumed that she had gone home but this was not the case. Afterwards, complainant Muhammad Adnan along with his brother started searching for Zainab, but in vain.
The complainant informed ‘ Rescue 15’ that he had a strong suspicion that his niece had been abducted by an unknown accused. A case was registered on January 4.
The autopsy examination of the child suggested that she had been raped and sodomized before being strangulated to death.

Hospital ( DHQ) Medico Legal Officer Dr Quratulain Attique said the post- mortem examination revealed the child had died of strangulation while her hymen was ruptured. There was also evidence to suggest that the child had been sodomised.
The examination was conducted the same day Zainab’s body was found on Tuesday.
