No respite from se­vere cold in N. In­dia, Leh records - 15° C

New Delhi, Jan. 13: North­ern states of the coun­try, in­clud­ing Jammu and Kash­mir and Hi­machal Pradesh, reeled un­der in­tense cold wave con­di­tions to­day as fog en­gulfed parts of Ut­tar Pradesh and Delhi.

In Jammu and Kash­mir, the min­i­mum tem­per­a­ture in Leh plum­meted by sev­eral de­grees to mi­nus 15 de­grees Cel­sius as cold wave in­ten­si­fied in the state.

State cap­i­tal Sri­na­gar recorded a min­i­mum tem­per­a­ture of mi­nus 4.6 de­grees Cel­sius while Pa­hal­gam and Kup­wara in north Kash­mir recorded a low of mi­nus 6.1 and mi­nus 5.3 de­grees Cel­sius re­spec­tively, a MeT of­fi­cial said.

The pop­u­lar ski- re­sort of Gul­marg recorded a low of mi­nus 4.5 de­grees Cel­sius.

In Hi­machal Pradesh, cold wave swept most parts of the state with min­i­mum tem­per­a­tures fur­ther drop­ping in high­alti­tude ar­eas.
