Abducted boy rescued, 2 arrested

A 12- year- old boy, who was kidnapped three days ago while returning home from school in northeast Delhi, has been rescued and two people have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.

Police said that one of the accused — Tareef — is an employee at a factory run by the boy’s father, while the other accused — Danish — was a former employee, a senior police officer said.

The abduction was executed on Monday evening when the victim, 12, a resident of Kardampuri in West Jyoti Nagar, was returning home after tuition.

The father filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday after getting the ransom call from the abductors, the police officer said.

“The accused identified as Tarif, works in his factory, while his accomplice, Danish, is a former employee and presently works in a factory in Vishwas Nagar. The two were arrested from their hideout with the help of surveillan­ce following which the victim was safely released,” Joint Commission­er of Police Ravinder Yadav said.

“During the investigat­ion, it was found that both Tarif and Danish approached the victim while he was on his way home. They asked him the address and way to his uncle’s house and later abducted him,” Yadav said.

“Tarif told the police that a cousin of the victim was also involved in the kidnapping and was the mastermind of the abduction,” Yadav said.
