Couple held for forging Aadhaars

The sleuths of Delhi police have arrested a couple for cheating the banks and gullible people by obtaining loans on forged property papers. Both the accused had been declared proclaimed offenders by the court. Forged documents like PAN card, Aadhaar Card, voter ID card, driving licence and other incriminating articles have been recovered from their possession.

The couple were as Monu identified Kumar Gupta, alias Sushil Kumar ( 45), and his wife Neelam, alais Sarla ( 43), residents of South Extension.

According to the police, complainants had purchased a property in K. M. Pur in 2012 from one Monu Kumar Gupta and his wife Neelam Gupta and after paying around ` 20 lakh, they took possession of all the five floors in the property. After some time, bank officials from the Union Bank of India, Darya Ganj, visited their house and informed that Monu and his wife had obtained a loan of Rs 30 lakh after mortgaging the said property with the bank in 2009.

During further enquiry, they also came to know that Monu and his wife had also obtained a loan of ` 18 lakh from the Central Bank of India, on the said property. The complainants further alleged that the couple had committed offences of forgery and cheating by concealing the facts that they had obtained loans of Rs 48 lakh after mortgaging the said property with two different banks.

The absconding couple were residing somewhere in the area of Bindapur after changing their identity. The police continued to get the details of other family members of the accused. Finally, they managed to zero in on their hideouts. A raid was conducted accordingly and the accused were arrested. During interrogation, it was revealed that Monu ran a cigarette shop in K. M. Pur. He came in contact with the bad elements of the area and started gambling. He had to bear huge financial losses. He had a joint property in K. M. Pur and mortgaged the said property with two banks.
