Cong to create booth- wise databank of workers

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

On the lines of the BJP, the Congress is also going to create a booth- wise data bank of its workers across the country. The drive, termed “Shakti”, was launched in Delhi on Wednesday by the party’s local unit head Ajay Maken. The drive will be launched in poll- bound Rajasthan on Thursday.

Giving details about the contact programme, Mr Maken said that the party will be using the latest technology to get feedback from its grassroots workers.

“All that a party worker has to do is to put up his voter ID number on his mobile phone and text message his or her suggestion or feedback on a particular number.”

Mr Maken said that the drive will be carried out for 10 days. “Once the drive is over, we will collate the booth wise data and then decide our future course of strategy.” He, however, said that the party was aware that some rival parties will also try to “infiltrate” by giving us wrong feedback. But, he said that the data collected will be analysed threadbare.

Asked whether the drive was open to its party workers only, Mr Maken said in the first stage feedback will be collected from its workers. “Later on, we will take feedback from our sympathisers and neutral people as well.”

Mr Maken said that the drive will be conducted in all the 70 Assembly seats with focus on those 20 constituencies which are all set for by- polls following the disqualification of their legislators in the office of profit issue.

Mr Maken admitted that the party was not having a comprehensive data bank of its booth- level workers. Asked what was the need for such a drive, he said many workers had been complaining that their “feedback” was not taken seriously as it was not reaching out to the right leaders. “This time, we will ensure that the feedback of our workers is taken up at the highest level.”
