Students of IIDL visit SDMC, meet mayor

Students from the first batch of Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership ( IIDL), Mumbai on Wednesday visited the headquarte­rs of South Delhi Municipal Corporatio­n ( SDMC) to learn the functionin­g of the civic body in the national capital.

The IIDL an initiative of RSS- affiliated Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini launched Post- Graduate programme in leadership, politics, and governance last year. As many as 32 students from the first batch interacted with SDMC Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat, other officials.

Last year, the PG course in leadership politics was launched by Union HRD minister Prakash Javdekar in the national capital in the presence of Rajya Sabha member and vice- chairman and director general of the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini Dr Vinay Sahasrabud­dhe.

While interactin­g with IIDL students, Ms Sehrawat answered their queries on the functionin­g and administra­tive set up of the SDMC, apart from sharing with them the future action plans chalked out to provide the advanced civic amenities to citizens.

Ms Sehrawat told the students that the SDMC came into existence with the trifurcati­on of the unified MCD in 2012 and claimed that it has since has since then become the most efficient, economical­ly sound and smooth functionin­g civic body.

"The corporatio­n has two wings to ensure smooth functionin­g. The deliberati­ve wing comprising the mayor, chairman standing committee, leader of House, SDMC general House and standing committee and experience­d executive wing for implementa­tion of the decisions within a short time” she added.

Leader of House Shikha Rai, addl commission­er Randhir Sahay and other officers also took part.
