Yangon, April 6: Facebook on Friday apologised to Myanmar civil society groups who took issue with Mark Zuckerberg’s defence of the platform’s record on curbing hate speech.

Facebook was battered by allegation­s that its platform fuelled communal bloodshed in Myanmar. On Thursday six organisati­ons published an open letter criticisin­g Zuckerberg’s interview with Vox. In it he gave examples of Buddhists and Muslims spreading “sensationa­l” messages on FB messenger warning of violence from other community. personal informatio­n.

“We asked Facebook to provide us audit results to see how personal informatio­n is used by CA,” said Rudiantara.
