ZARDA WORTH 50L LOOTED, 3 ARRESTED

New Delhi, April 6: Three people were arrested on Friday in connection with the loot of a popular brand of zarda ( flavoured tobbaco) worth 50 lakh from Aligarh last year, police said. A total of 156 cartons of zarda was recovered from arrested accused, identified as Ashok Garg, 43, said Madhur Verma, deputy commission­er of police, New Delhi. The police personnel of Barakhamba Road police station arrested Garg from Super Bazar, Connaught Place. A country- made pistol and two rounds of bullets were recovered from the accused’s car, said the police officer. During interrogat­ion, Garg revealed the names of his associates — Madan Lal Suryavansh­i and Deepak Kumar. The duo were arrested from Mayapuri, he said. The cartons were looted from Aligarh on intervenin­g night of August 24 and 25, and a case was filed at Delhi Gate police station .
