Police arrests 5 inter- state gangsters

A team of Delhi police arrested five inter- state gangsters, including rewarded criminals, who had helped their member a notorious criminal Sandeep Dhillon escaping from police custody two months ago.

The arrested are Deepak 33, and Parmod 27. One juvenile, who is also active with them was also apprehende­d.

The police said that on February 19, they had played an important role in the escape of criminal namely Sandeep alias Dhillu from the custody of the police by opening fire and throwing red chilli powder in the eyes of the police personnel, while they were escorting Sandeep alias Dhillu to hospital for treatment.

The joint teams of Delhi police arrested one of the gang members, identified as Salman, who was involved in abetting the escape of Sandeep.

Later, the joint team arrested two other persons, identified as Deepak and Sunny, who were also involved in the same crime.

On March 27, the Delhi police arrested an accused identified as Deepak alias Radhey from Rohini in Delhi.

On searching him, he was found in the possession of one country- made pistol .315 bore along with two live cartridges.

On March 29, informatio­n received regarding movement of one juvenile, a member of Sandeep alias Dhillu Gang, who was involved in the crime was also apprehende­d.

The juvenile’s family members were informed and after interrogat­ion the juvenile was produced before Juvenile Justice Board by the juvenile officer and sent to observatio­n by a court order.

A team of Delhi police picked up the lead to trace other accused in the case and on April 3, informatio­n was received at ISC, Crime Branch about.

A trap was laid by the Rohini police and he was arrested. Following their interrogat­ion, names of Golu, Parmod, Parmjeet, Deepak and one a juvenile were revealed in the interrogat­ion, who were involved in abetting the escape of convict Sandeep.

The gangster was brought to the Maulana Azad Medical College ( MAMC) for a dental check- up after being referred by doctors of Mandoli jail, where he was lodged for the past two years.

While coming out of the out patient department ( OPD), he reportedly threw chilli powder in the cops’ eyes escorting him and escaped.
