Courageous cops felicitated

Two policemen were felicitated for exemplary courage and executing of excellent combat skills without caring for their personal safety by commissioner of police . Patnaik on Friday.

Head constable Narendra Kumar was given out of turn promotion to the next rank of assistant sub inspector.

The police said that on March 6 at around 9. station house officer ( SHO), Bagh, Mr Kumar along with ASI Naresh Kumar were on anti- robbery patrolling on Rohtak Road in Rampura.

They were also assigned the task of gathering information or leads in a murder case that took place in Punjabi Bagh, Delhi.

On their way back 10: 10 pm, they spotted a group of five youths walking ahead of their vehicle near CNG Pump, Rampura. Suspicious, the duo stoped the five youth and searched them questioning them all along. Suddenly, the youth got violent as they did not like being searched.

One of the youth pushed assistant sub inspector ( ASI) Naresh Kumar violently and the other three youths, hailed for their fifth accomplice, whose identity was later revealed as Mansoor.

On seeing them running away, ASI Naresh Kumar gave the accused youths a chase. Meanwhile, the fifth youth ( Mansoor) stabbed HC Narender Kumar twice on his forehead and shoulder with the clear intention to kill him.
