Billa Bong, Salwan Boys lift titles
Man of the match Lakshay Thareja struck 58 and Bobby Yadav’s 4/ 55 helped Billa Bong Academy beat Turf Academy by three wickets in the final of the 11th Hargopal Under- 23 cricket tournament at the Modern School, Barakhamba Road, grounds in the capital on Sunday.
Chasing 190, Billa Bong Academy overhauled the target in 38.3 overs with Thareja leading the way. Jayveer ( 42 not out) and Harshit Sethi ( 38) were other prominent run- getters for the side. Shivank Vashishth and Karan Dagar took three wickets each for Turf Academy.
Earlier, Yadav and Shashank Shekhar ( 2/ 25) ripped through Turf Club’s batting line- up as they folded up for 189 in 37.1 over. Abhishek Goswami ( 47) and Priyanshu Vijayran ( 38) showed resistance with the bat.
Later in the Under- 19 final, an unbeaten 47 by man of the match Suraj Vashishth and good effort from bowlers set up Salwan Boys School, Rajender Nagar’s sevenwicket win over Ramjas School no. 2, Anand Parvat.
Batting first, Ramjas School were bowled out for 125 in 19.4 overs as Himanshu Bhati ( 4/ 13) and Shivam Bhan ( 2/ 13) took wickets at regular intervals.
Saksham Kumar top- scored with 37 while Tasif Alam added 27.
In reply, Salwan Boys School reached the target in 18 overs with Vashisht contributing bulk of the runs. Kunal Gautam and Tarun Bisht chipped in with 28 each.
