Charges filed against IAF officer for alleged espionage
The Delhi police has filed a charge sheet against an Indian Air Force ( IAF) officer, arrested in February on alleged espionage.
The charge sheet was filed before chief metropolitan magistrate Deepak Shehrawat here against Group Captain Arun Marwah, who was booked under the Official Secrets Act ( OSA) for allegedly leaking classified documents to a woman through WhatsApp. The court has put up the final report for taking cognisance on April 24.
According to the complaint

filed against Marwah, the IAF intelligence wing personnel caught him after he was found carrying a high- end phone, an area where such devices are banned, on January 31. Punishment under the OSA entails a jail term of up to seven years.
Marwah, who was arrested in February, leaked classified information about three new triservice agencies, Defence Cyber Agency, Defence Space Agency and a Special Operations Division, to the two women, suspected to be working for a foreign spy agency.
The IAF intelligence had initiated a probe based on inputs that classified information was being leaked from the IAF headquarters.
“He was working as joint director ( operations),” the FIR had said. “During questioning, he said he was in touch with the women and passed classified information to them. He also shared a classified document about the forthcoming IAF exercise with them, which may help enemies and will affect India’s security.”
