( PRODUCT) RED: Apple continues welfare

After a month of leaks and rumours, Apple has finally takes the wraps off the ( PRODUCT RED) iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus special edition smartphone­s. Now sporting a glass panel painted in red along with a matching aluminium band, Apple has finally given it a black front, making it one of the most attractive smartphone­s in the present. The special edition ( PRODUCT) RED iPhone will be available to order online in select countries and regions.

Apple also introduced a new ( PRODUCT) RED iPhone X leather folio case. The company says that this folio case is crafted from finished European leather. A portion of the proceeds for all ( PRODUCT) RED purchases go directly to Global Fund HIV/ AIDS grants that provide testing, counsellin­g, treatment and prevention programmes with a specific focus on eliminatin­g transmissi­on of the virus from mothers to their babies. Since partnering with ( RED) in 2006, Apple says that it has donated more than $ 160 million to the Global Fund, serving as the organisati­on’s largest corporate donor.

“This special edition ( PRODUCT) RED iPhone features a red and black colour combinatio­n and also offers customers the opportunit­y to make an impact in fighting the spread of HIV and AIDS,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus feature a glass- aluminium design with a Retina HD display. Both the iPhones are powered by an A11 Bionic chip and run on iOS 11.3 at present. The iPhone 8 Plus features a dual 12MP camera setup with several Portrait mode lighting effects. The ( PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 models will be available in 64GB and 256GB models, starting at ` 67,940, while the iPhone X leather folio case is priced at ` 7,900.
