MISSING CPM COUNCILLOR FOUND INJURED
Agartala: A CPI( M) councillor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation has gone missing Monday morning and was found injured and unconscious after around 12 hours, the police said. The 55- yearold councillor was not seen from around 7 am at his home in Joynagar locality here and was recovered near Battala crematorium, about a kilometre from his house, at 6.45 pm. Local people identified him and brought him to his home after identifying him, his wife Banasri Chakraborty said. She claimed that her husband was found in a ‘ badly injured’ condition, though officer- in- charge of West Agartala police station, Subrata Chakraborty, said the councillor’s injuries were minor in nature. The CPI( M) leader was taken to hospital for first aid and was brought back home. His family had filed a missing diary with the police Monday morning. It is yet to be clear how the incident took place. CPI( M) spokesperson Goutam Das ruled out the possibility of involvement of any political party in the incident. “We had heard that he left home and was not seen since the morning. It doesn’t seem there is any political motive in the incident so far,” Mr Das said.
