Minor girl raped at wedding in UP, accused arrested

Lucknow, April 20: Rapes in weddings seem to be becoming a frightening trend in Uttar Pradesh.

After two minor girls were raped when they went to attend wedding functions in Siddhartha Nagar and Etah earlier this week, yet another minor girl was picked up by a youth during a wedding function and raped and killed.

This incident took place on Thursday night in Kailtha village Etah district.

A nine- year- old was attending a wedding with her family when she suddenly went missing.

The family members began searching for her and found her body on the outskirts of the forest area in the wee hours of Friday.

The girl was taken to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The accused Pintu was identified by those who had seen him with the victim and has been arrested. He was working with the cooks in the wedding.

Meanwhile, tension prevails in the village over the incident and additional forces have been deployed.

It may be recalled that in the same district, an eight– year- old girl had been raped in killed on April 17 during a wedding function.

On Wednesday night, a six- year- old girl in Siddhartha Nagar district was raped when she went out to watch a wedding procession.

She was raped and later found unconscious in the fields.

She has been admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
