Police foils dacoity, recover arms, 5 held

With the arrest of five accused, the Delhi police foiled a major dacoity in Jahangirpu­ri and arrested the accused red- handed, said the police on Friday. With their arrest, the police claimed to have solved 51 cases of robbery, snatching and theft. five country made pistol along with 19 live cartridges and two stolen bikes were recovered from them. The accused were identified as Gulzar( 20), Deepak( 20), Abdul Khan( 19), Sanjeev Kumar( 20), Nishu Kumar( 18) and Upen( 24). The police said informatio­n was received on June 14 that a gang of criminals is about to gather at Mukarba Chowk. The gang was intercepte­d and it was revealed that that they were planning to rob the HP Petrol Pump near Jahangirpu­ri Metro Station. On interrogat­ion, it was revealed that they had planned to enter the petrol pump on two bikes and keep their pistols fully loaded and ready to fire. Gulzar instructed them to take the manager, supervisor and the rest of the staff as hostages.
