Double murder accused held in Najafgarh

Man, sister were killed over land

The Delhi police has finally arrested the main accused in a double murder case in which two persons, a brother and sister duo, were shot dead over a property dispute, the police said on Saturday.

The accused was identified as Naveen Kumar. According to police, on March 5, it received a call about a woman, namely Anita Yadav, who was shot dead by the accused Naveen and his associates. She was fired from point blank range and declared brought dead at the hospital.

The police said that the victim’s son was also present at the spot, but escaped as the pistol used by the accused malfunctio­ned.

It was reported that the deceased had purchased some land along with the wife of accused Naveen Kumar. However, the accused kept pressurisi­ng the deceased to transfer the whole land to him without paying any money.

Further, on March 6, another piece of informatio­n was received regarding the recovery of a dead body.

The deceased was identified as Jaikishan, the brother of deceased Anita.

On Tuesday, the main accused of the case, Naveen, was arrested by the police from Najafgarh following a tip- off.

During sustained interrogat­ion, the accused revealed that deceased Anita and her brother Jaikishan were murdered owing to some dispute over a piece of land in the same village, said additional deputy commission­er of police Santosh Kumar Meena.
