TEST FOR SPOKESPERSONS IN UTTAR PRADESH CONGRESS

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The Congress in Uttar Pradesh has finally started snapping out of a state of inertia and is now cracking the code.

The party, which had dissolved its media panels on June 20, has found a new way to recruit new spokespersons.

Congress sources said that the party would appoint only a dozen new spokespersons after the list is cleared by Congress president Rahul Gandhi next week.

For the first time ever, the UP Congress, on Thursday evening, invited about 70 aspirants for the posts of spokesperson to take an examination.

The 70 odd ‘ candidates’ — including five women — were asked to answer 14 questions like how many divisions, district and block are there in Uttar Pradesh, how many Lok Sabha seats are reserved in UP, what was the vote percentage of the Congress in 2014 Lok Sabha and 2017 assembly elections, name three prominent news headlines in newspapers of the day, what were the achievements of the Manmohan Singh government and what are the failures of the Modi and Yogi government?

National Congress spokespersons Priyanka Chaturvedi had been called to Lucknow to oversee the examination, which is followed by interviews.

In the interview, Ms Priyanka Chaturvedi and UPCC president Raj Babbar fielded questions that included the controversy over the recent statements of party leaders Saifuddin Soz and Ghulam Nabi Azad.
