Dheki­a­juli mas­sacre: 2 NDFB rebels get death

The spe­cial Na­tional In­ves­ti­ga­tion Agency ( NIA) court here on Satur­day pro­nounced death sen­tence to two Na­tional Demo­cratic Front of BorolandSong­bi­jit ( NDFB- S) rebels and life im­pris­on­ment to two other cadres of the out­fit in con­nec­tion with the Dheki­a­juli mass killings in 2014.

The spe­cial NIA pro­nounced death sen­tence for NDFB ( S) cadre Ajoy Ba­sumu­tary alias B Buhum­bua and Bishnu Narzary alias N Berema while co- ac­cused Ni­tul Daimary alias D Nai­hab and Sanju Bor­doloi alias Sibi­giri were given life sen­tence.

The NIA court had con­victed con­victed four per­sons ac­cused in con­nec­tion with Dheki­a­juli mas­sacre in 2014.

The NDFB cadres had in­dis­crim­i­nately opened fire on the res­i­dents of San­tipur vil­lage un­der Rakhak­mari Po­lice Out Post in cen­tral As­sam’s Sonit­pur district. As a re­sult, six per­sons had died on the spot while two sus­tained in­juries.

The NIA, which in­ves­ti­gated the case, had ar­rested the four NDFB cadres and filed chargesheet against the ac­cused in July 2015. On com­ple­tion of the trial, the Spe­cial NIA Court Guwa­hati had pro­nounced ver­dict on Au­gust 29 con­vict­ing all the four ac­cused per­sons. The court de­cided the quan­tum of pun­ish­ment on Satur­day.
