SRIJAN SCAM: CBI TO PROBE LOCAL POLITICIANS
The CBI which has already registered several cases pertaining to the multi- crore Srijan scam in Bihar, has now decided to examine local politicians in certain cases as part of its investigation into the matter. “The agency is probing the role of five state level politicians in connection with the scam and they will soon be called for questioning”, sources said. The CBI has already registered around 25 cases in connection with Srijan scam in Bihar in which government funds worth several crores were allegedly embezzled by a non- governmental organisation ( NGO). The CBI has already booked all the office bearers of the NGO ‘ Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti’ in these cases along with the then branch managers of Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, besides land acquisition officers of several districts in Bihar. President of Srijan Shubhlaxmi Prasad and nine other office- bearers of the voluntary group had also been named in the agency’s FIRs. It is alleged that the group which was working towards imparting training to women had pilfered government funds to the tune of over ` 1000 crore in connivance with the bank officials and state government officials between 2003 and 2014.
